1-L'Amour Jelly Roll.
1 Yard Bella Solids White Bleached.
2 Yards Sandys' Solids Brown for border, words and binding.
6 Yards L'Amour Circles Pink for small border and backing.

Now take the pieces that will be block centers.
Cut them to 14.5" strips.
Now from the outer block strips cut 2 - 2.5" squares. Attach to the ends of the blocks.
From the remaining strip attach the two other sides to the block. The block should now measure 18.5"x6.5"
Repeat this process until you have 18 blocks.
Next you will take 7 of the remaining jelly roll strips.
Cut the strips into 3 - 10" strips.
Sew the strips together creating a 10"x6.5" block.
From your Bella Solids White Bleached material cut into 6 - 2.5" strips. Sew them back together into two sets of three strips. (You are creating the background for the 2 applique word blocks.)
Cut one block to 6.5"x29" and one to 6.5"x19".
Now go to your computer and print out the following words. "Hugs & Kisses" and "LOVE" we used the font Juice in Microsoft Word. Make the letters 5.75" tall.
Use our starch applique tutorial. Pin the words that you've printed out onto the fabric as shown in the images above & below.
We used a small blanket stitch to applique the words on.
Using the picture above sew your blocks together.
Take your leftover strips and sew them together side by side to create pieces for your applique hearts.
7 - .75" brown strips.
Sew the strips together as shown in the image below.
Now, add borders to the top and bottom of your quilt.
Now create your corner blocks.
You will need to cut 4 - 2.5" strips off of the border material.
Now take 4 - 4" strips of your pin material and sew that to one side of the brown border piece.
For the other side of the corner cut and add a 1.5" border piece.
Refer to the picture below.
Now measure the sides of the quilt and attach borders using these cornerstones.

REALLY REALLY CUTE !!!
I love this!!!
Oh so cute! Am I understanding right that you took your fabric and put it through the printer for the words? Did you tape the fabric to sheets of paper or was it heavy enough to go through by itself? I might have to try this.
Jana-
No, I printed on the paper, then pinned the paper onto the starched fabric then cut both of them out at the same time.
Super cute!
Where is the printer friendly version?? Totally cute!

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this quilt and so I turned it into a wall hanging. . . it isn't hugs and kisses and my house though . . . it's LOVE. . . I blogged about it here http://craftsredesigned.blogspot.com/2010/02/im-back-well-sorta-but-here-is-lovely.html Thanks for the wonderful pattern and your time to make it. One day I am going to buy some Moda fabrics and create one of these other creations, as for now I just make the quilts and things I see on this wonderful website. Thanks for the beautiful work.

Hugs from Mexico
Do you know where can I buy your patterns and fabrics here in Mexico?, I just love it.
Just a bit confused....
Cut them to 14.5" strips...cut 2 - 2.5" squares. Attach to the ends of the blocks. The block should now measure 1.5"x6.5"
I'm presuming this should be 18.5"x6.5". This is the measurement I'll be using for my take on the quilt.
Karen-
You are right. I've fixed the typo. :)

Very cute. I was excited to make this.I sewed all the pieces together but the rows with the 3 - 18.5 inch pieces are 2 inches shorter than the rest of the rows. I had to piece them. You do the math and tell me if I did something wrong or you need to revise the measurements. Thanks.
I LOVE it! Wonderful job and great tutorial. Thanks so much for sharing about Oversize King Quilts
I am trying to make this but I have a hard time to get the letters the right size. Where did you find the font and how do you make it 5.75?
I would like to purchase the material for this project!!! Where do I go to do that????
Hi Kim,
This fabric line was released in 2010 but you may be able to find it in some online shops. I'd try a web search for: "L' Amour by Sandy Gervais"
