Interwoven Quilt

Hi all, I’m Amanda Castor and I’m so happy to be back on the Moda Bake Shop today with a quick and easy quilt.  And really, isn’t that what is so awesome about Moda pre-cuts…quick and easy?!?!  I think this one looks like the fabric is kind of woven like a basket (hence the name:  Interwoven).  I hope you enjoy.

2 print charm packs (Miss Kate)
1 Bella Solid charm pack (white)
1 1/2 yards backing
1/2 yard binding

1.  Select 81 print charm squares and trim them each to measure 5″ x 4 1/2″ as shown below.

2.  Now rotate your ruler and cut each 5″ x 4 1/2″ charm into two 2 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ rectangles.

3. Cut all of your Bella Solid charm squares into four 2 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ squares each as shown below.

4.  To piece the blocks, select one 2 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ white square and one 2 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ print rectangle and sew together into one 2 1/2″ x 6 1/2″ block.

5.  Sew together 23 rows of 7 blocks each and rotate the direction of the blocks with each row as shown in the layout photo below.  (In other words, the odd numbered rows will start with a white square and the even numbered rows will start with a print rectangle).  You can lay out your blocks first into a design that suits you, but I simply chose 7 blocks and stitched them together into rows for a completely random placement.  Just do whatever works best for you 🙂

One approximately 42″ x 46″ quilt perfect for a little one or just right to cover your lap on the couch.
