Flashback Friday: Layer Player Quilt

MBS-flashback-friday-layer-player

Happy Friday! Today’s flashback project is a fun layer cake quilt that sews up in no time at all.

Barb Johnson’s original Layer Player quilt used a fun American Jane layer cake.

I’ve substituted the print layer cake for two Bella Solids junior layer cakes.

Double the background color and add a third junior layer cake for even more variety!

Are these the same pattern? The original quilt looks like a pattern of “H’s”. The second one looks like hashtags. I am a new quilter. I am always looking for an easy quilt to make. I really like the hashtag quilt and that is the pattern I am interested in. Where can I find the hashtag pattern? Thanks.

Hi Tonya! Oops, you are right! I’ve updated the graphic so that these are all the same pattern. The link to the tutorial is in the post.

Wow, that really caught my eye! My name is also Barb Johnson, and I design quilts, too! So I had a “Wait, What?” moment there!

After seeing the original pattern for this quilt I have made five quilts like this. A a friend of mine also made it but we call it ‘The Wonky Quilt”. Thank you for the pattern.

  5. Really nice this site and it is more complete and simple research. I thank you very much for those relaxing moments.
