Fat Quarter of Green fabric
- (2) 2½” squares
- (8) 2″ squares
From red :
- (1) 3½” square
- (4) 2″ x 3½” rectangles
- (4) 2″ squares
- (2) 2½” squares
Position a 2″ green square on opposite corners of a 3½” red square. Draw a diagonal line from corner to corner and stitch on the line. Trim seam allowance to ¼” and press the seams toward the green. Repeat on remaining corners. Proof to 3½”. Make 1 center .
Position a 2″ white square on one end of a 2″ x 3½” red rectangle. Draw a diagonal line from corner to corner and stitch on the line. Trim seam allowance to ¼” and press the seams open. Repeat on the opposite end. Proof to 2″ x 3½”. Make 4 flying geese.
Layer a 2½” white square and a 2½” green square, right sides together. Draw a diagonal line from corner to corner. Stitch ¼” on each side of the line.
Cut on the line. Press seams toward the green. Proof to 2″. Make 4 pieced squares.
Sew a pieced square to each end of the flying geese. Press seams toward the flying geese. Make 2. Sew a flying geese to each side of the center. Press seams toward the flying geese. Sew the units together, as diagrammed. Press seams away from the center. Proof square to 6½”.
