Crossing the Finish Line
Our Choose Your Own Adventure quilt-along this past summer was such a fun journey for all of us here at the Moda Bake Shop. I know from our Facebook group and social media posts, that many of you out there are still sewing along. I am usually one of those who does quilt-alongs long after they’ve ended so I know how it goes! Today I thought I’d check in with our Chefs and Camp Counselors to keep you inspired – and also to show off this fun quilt-along for anyone who is looking for a new project this year.
Winter Dreams Quilt
Is it snowing where you live? Here in Dallas, Texas we rarely get snow – it’s been in the 60s all week here! That doesn’t stop Oda May from dreaming of snow. Today she is sharing a wintry vision of one of last year’s most downloaded quilts by Allison Jensen of Woodberry Way.
Dec 22: Hard Candy Christmas
This simple block is a easy and fun. Use a cute fussy cut print for the center square if you really want to make it festive!
Counting Down the Days
The most wonderful time of the year has arrived! Yes, it is time for our annual Countdown to Christmas! This year our Chefs have worked up an array of blocks in 6″ and 12″ – all made in seasonal red and white fabrics. Over here at the Moda Bake Shop, we will be using fat quarters to make our blocks but use whichever precut works the best for you.
We will have a new block each day until Christmas, plus some bonus blocks and quilt settings to keep you sewing right through the new year. Join us! Be sure to stop by our Moda Bake Shop Facebook group to see what others are sewing.

QuiltCon 2018
If you are in the Pasadena, California area this weekend come join us at QuiltCon 2018! It’s Moda Fabrics fifth year as an event sponsor and this year we are also sponsoring Best in Show. Join the Moda Bake Shop team in booth 602 in the vendor hall where we will be handing out goodies (watercolor mini charms and zip pouches) as well as demoing the amazing jelly roll rug by RJ Designs.
There will also be several opportunities to see our Moda team in action:
- Thursday, Feb 22 at 1:30 PM PST: Carrie Nelson who runs our Cutting Table blog and Moda Fabrics social media pages (as well as designing the beloved Miss Rosie’s Quilt Co. patterns and products!) will be on a Panel: Social Media and Quilters
- Saturday, Feb 24 at 12:00 PM PST: Lissa Alexander will be signing her first and fabulous book Oh, Scrap! from publisher Martingale. Find her in the Intown Quilters booth 624.
- Our very own Vanessa Christenson will in the Moda Bake Shop booth showcasing her Ombre fabrics and Ombre metallic dots. These are truly gorgeous and unique basics that you will come back to again and again.
If you can’t make it, we will miss you! Be sure to follow along on our Instagram and Facebook pages!

Is it spring where you are? The flowers are blooming down here at Moda Fabrics’ Dallas headquarters and we are all inspired to do some spring sewing. My mind is swirling with florals and stripes and soft spring colors. See what inspires our Chefs for {spring sewing} and join us this month for a lot of fun seasonal projects.
