Welcome back to the Moda Bake Shop’s Countdown to Christmas! I’m Jen Daly and I’m excited to be here again with a new block for Day 17! Candy canes and peppermint sticks were the inspiration for my cheery Christmas Candy Star block featuring a Sawtooth Star with a candy striped center made of half square triangles—sew sweet!
Hello! It’s Amanda of Pieced Just Sew and I am excited to be kicking off this year’s Countdown to Christmas! This year’s blocks will be made with a variety of red prints, solid red, and solid white and each block can be made as both a 12” block and a 6” block. Be sure to check back each day between now and Christmas for a brand new block!
Today’s block may look familiar. It is the block from my recent Country Summer quilt tutorial. However, in the spirit of this time of year, I have renamed it Country Winter! So dig into your stash, pick a couple of your favorite red prints, and let’s get started!
Hi there fellow Moda Bake Shop Bakers! This is Lisa Jo Girodat of Neverlandstitches and I thrilled to join you as one of the newest chefs!
I have been sewing and making quilts for over 30 years. I started designing my own quilts, again about 2 years ago. About a year ago I decided to make a medallion quilt for a very special family member as a Christmas gift and I was hooked (or addicted – lol). This summer was such a joy as so many of us sewed along with Camp Oda May’s Choose Your Own Adventure, therefore I wanted to create another medallion quilt to remind us as the dreary winter nights ascend upon us to keep our Stars Around us shining brightly.
Hello! It’s Amanda of Pieced Just Sew and I am excited to be back today with a new tutorial! I got to work with the gorgeous new collection from Lella Boutique called Garden Variety and working with these fabrics reminded me of growing up in rural Pennsylvania and exploring outside during the summers. While the fabric may have a summery feel, this large throw quilt will be perfect for snuggling up as the cooler fall weather moves in!
This generous throw sized quilt is perfect for snuggling under with a loved one. A thousand pyramid quilt is a great choice for winter fabrics as the triangles bring to mind a forest of trees. This version makes use of the light fabrics for the background triangles and dark for the focal triangles. There are also three larger triangles formed using the darker fabrics for more visual interest.
I’m excited to be kicking off this month’s mini quilt theme! This set of three mini quilts is inspired by barn quilts. Make one or all of these fun, quick projects using a single charm pack and some yardage. This speedy project is perfect for that one charm pack you love, but can’t figure out what to do with!
I am happy to share with you this traditional quilt using the fabulous Summer on the Pond fabric line by Holly Taylor. In these cold winter days, this fabric brings wistful thoughts of the summer and vacation time to come.
Remembering our birds who also lost their homes during devastating hurricanes and fires in 2017. They are Rebuilding too.
Hello, fellow bakers! I’m Alison from Little Bunny Quilts back today sharing a brand new quilt featuring Voyage by Kate Spain! Lately, I’ve really enjoyed making and using big blocks to make quilts and this quilt uses only sixteen 18″ blocks to make a very generous throw sized quilt! With no triangles to piece, this quilt would be easy to piece for a confident beginner with a mastery of the 1/4″ seam. Let’s put new blades in our rotary cutters and new needles in our machines and get to work! Continue reading
